Want to get back into education? Always wanted to go to university?
The Scottish Wider Access Programme (SWAP) is a partnership of colleges & universities in Scotland whose aim is to support adults who want to find routes into higher education. They may think that they can’t get to university because they don’t have the school qualifications necessary. They may feel that they are too old or that it’s just not for them. Often what they don’t realise is that they will have built up a range of skills from previous work, or from bringing up a family, and these may be the exact skills that universities are looking for – being able to communicate with others, or work in teams and solve problems. A one year, full-time SWAP Access programme at college develops these skills and prepares them to succeed in Higher Education.
The attached leaflet is for your information and for distribution to anyone who uses your services and who may be interested in thinking about going back into education. A complete list of the SWAP Access programmes that are offered at local colleges is on our website at
https://www.scottishwideraccess.org/east-our-programmes
If you have questions or queries or wish to direct a service user to us for advice and guidance on how to get started, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
With best wishes,
SWAP East Team

NHS Tayside Community Benefit Gateway
In September 2021 NHS National Procurement, a division of NHS National Services Scotland in conjunction with the NHS Scotland Procurement community launched the Community Benefit Gateway.
Community Benefit Gateway (CBG) is a free and easy to use online service that connects NHS Scotland suppliers with third sector community organisations in Tayside who are looking for assistance with a variety of needs.
It’s open to all third sector community organisations across Tayside and needs can be anything from supporting training and development, donation of equipment, assistance with building community facilities, or environmental proposals and much more.
In Tayside the CBG is overseen by my colleagues and I within the Directorate of Public Health and supported by a triage group which includes members of the 3 local TSI’s, and NHST procurement colleagues.

Let’s Talk Transport!
I am delighted to share our first, committee-approved, report that identifies problems and opportunities across Perth and Kinross’s existing transport network, in preparation for the Mobility Strategy.
The Let’s Talk Transport report, commonly known as a main issues report, is publicly available for 6 weeks allowing stakeholders, communities, and businesses to share their local knowledge and expertise. The Let’s Talk Transport report and the feedback gathered from this consultation will play a key role in informing the draft Mobility Strategy.
It would be greatly appreciated if the link is shared with colleagues, friends, and family to get as many participants as possible. This will allow for a robust evidence base to inform the draft Mobility Strategy.
